Medi-Cal Members Encouraged to Update Eligibility Information to Avoid Coverage Disruption

During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, the federal government paused Medicaid eligibility verifications. This process is known as redetermination. Roughly 13 million Medi-Cal members stayed enrolled during this time without re-certifying their eligibility. Now, the state of California is resuming this requirement, starting April 1, 2023.

That's why Health Net has launched its Review to Renew campaign. It will provide members with information and resources to help eligible Medi-Cal members keep their coverage and care. The Review to Renew campaign will help make sure members are informed through various print and digital media. This includes customized mailers, interactive voice response calls, text messages, social media, digital advertisements and posters.

Health Net strongly urges all Medi-Cal members to take the steps below, which may help them keep their Medi-Cal coverage:

• Update all contact information. This includes address, phone number and email. Some Medi-Cal members will receive a letter from the county asking for this update. Each county needs this information so they can reach residents with important updates about keeping their Medi-Cal coverage.
  
  
• Report changes in household to the local county office. This includes if someone becomes pregnant, moves in or out of your home, income changes, or anything else that may affect Medi-Cal eligibility. Here are some ways members can report changes:
  • Call their county office.
  • Logging into their account at BenefitsCal.com.
  • Mail a letter to their county office.
  • Visit their county office in person.
     
• Answer all requests for information from the county office. This will help the county make sure that people who still qualify for Medi-Cal will keep their coverage without changes.
