Partnerships with local community-based organizations provided students with backpacks, health screenings, vaccinations and more.
As part of Health Net's Back-to-School & Healthy Summer Campaign, we partnered with more than 80 local organizations at more than 100 events across the state to bring over 15,000 backpacks, health screenings, vaccinations and more directly to students and families in the communities we serve. As one of California's most experienced Medi-Cal providers, Health Net understands that preparing students for school will help keep them on track and prevent them from falling behind in their education.
We leverage the expertise and relationships local organizations have within their communities to deliver the best care to those in need and ensure every child is prepared to succeed in the upcoming school year. Through these partnerships and resources, Health Net has increased health awareness and alleviated financial burdens for families, allowing them to focus on other aspects of their child's education.
"We know that when kids have the supplies they need to succeed in school, they're more likely to do well," said Dr. Pooja Mittal, Chief Health Equity Officer at Health Net. "This campaign is just one way we're working to support the state's most vulnerable populations, ensuring that children have the tools they need. We're proud to make a difference in the lives of California's youth."
"Health Net's generous support meant that the students in our community were able to start the school year right, with all the supplies they needed for success," said John D. Turner, Senior Pastor at The Blessing Corner. "We are so grateful for their commitment to helping our youth reach their full potential."
Health Net is committed to supporting the health and well-being of all Californians, including our youth. Since 2017, Health Net has awarded more than $1.5 million in children's grants to local California communities. These grants inform, educate and support localized programs that aim to help children with complex issues related to physical, behavioral and oral needs.
