L.A. Skid Row Gets Whole Health Support from New Corner of Hope

Health Net took part in a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the opening of the John Wesley Community Health Center's (JWCH) new Corner of Hope. The newly expanded and modernized health care center serves the heart of Los Angeles' Skid Row to help the homeless and underserved get the care they need.

A $150k grant from Health Net helped to finish building the center. Corner of Hope is right next to the JWCH and features:

• Behavioral health services.
• HIV treatment and prevention services.
• Substance-use treatment – including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
• Care management.
• Housing navigation.
• Music therapy.
• Low-cost food from community food vendors.

Now Corner of Hope can help even more

The JWCH served 36,472 people in 2018:

• 75 percent were below poverty level.
• 82 percent were between the ages of 20 and 64.

Corner of Hope creates space for:

• 750 more behavioral health patients.
• 80 more people to receive MAT treatment.
• 2,600 more primary care patients (could produce 10,660 visits).

Corner of Hope is sure to breathe more promise and life into this underserved community.
